Flooding Backyard Ice skating rinks
We supply water during the cold weather months to flood backyard rinks. We offer the following suggestions from our experience.
- The most important thing to remember when constructing a rink is to make sure it is level. If it is out of level the water will flow to the low spot and the high spot may have little or no water covering the liner.
- Make sure the boards are anchored securely into the ground. They have to be able to hold the weight of the water until it freezes. 1-9000 gallon load of water weighs 75,000 pounds.
- The liner must be one continuous sheet without seams. If the liner has seams, it will leak and you will lose the water. We recomend a liner designed for backyard ice rinks, they are durable and can withstand cold temperatures and harsh conditions.
To determine how much water your rink holds: Length X width X average depth X 7.5 = volume in gallons
Our trucks hold 9000 gallons and our prices are based on the town where the rink is located. To receive a price please click the contact button and make sure to include the following: Name, address including town, and e-mail address, or simply call our office at 800-504-0529.
